Details of some of the workshops currently being offered around the country. Some of these will be offered locally in the near future. If you would like to book one for your group please get in touch.
Embellisher Taster Day
If you would like to discover what the fuss is all about why not enrol for this dayschool? All materials are provided, including the use of an embellisher for the day if you need one.
Make a Bag on the Embellisher
This is a fun day. We will start by making a new fabric, then make the bag in the afternoon. Lunch is included, and some embellisher machines available for use at a nominal charge.
Make a pair of boots on the Embellisher
First prepare your fabric, then continue to use the Embellisher to make a pair of small boots.
Embellisher Bowls
An introduction to making bowls using the Embellisher. We will try several different techniques, depending on the time available.
Machine Embroidered Lace
Use the sewing machine to make lace – but no water-soluble fabric. Although this is a simple technique the workshop is not an introduction to machine embroidery, so knowledge of free machine embroidery is a pre-requirement of the workshop.
Glorious Grilon
Explore the possibilities of the incredible shrinking thread! We will experiment with hand and machine stitching. Knowledge of free machine embroidery is not required, but you will need to bring your own sewing machine.
Abstract Landscapes on the Embellisher *
Learn some interesting techniques and then put them all together into abstract landscapes
Crazy, Crazy Patchwork on the Embellisher
Patchwork, but not as you know it. The resulting fabric can be used for a variety of items from book covers to bags. You can decide what you want to make when you get home.
Rust Dyeing – No dyes, just any old metal!
Arrive with fabric and rusty objects, go home with fabric which is already beginning to show marks. Your only problem will be deciding how long you can resist taking a peek. This can also be offered as a 2 day course.
Folded Pocket Books
If you like making a mess you will love this workshop! Use paint, paper and other bits and pieces to make a small collection of little books, each of which will fit into your pocket. This can also be offered as a 2 day course
Experimental Marbling
Have fun creating colour on fabric using some interesting and easy techniques.
Dyeing for Embroidery and other Textile Techniques
This workshop will dispel all your fears about using Procion Dyes to colour natural fibres. Useful for beginners or as a refresher, the technique is simple and results in a beautiful mix of colours. This can also be offered as a 2 day, weekend or week course
More Fun with Dyeing
More colour mixes, add to your repertoire. Suitable also for beginners. . This can also be offered as a 2 day, weekend or week course
Dyeing the Rainbow
Produce a rainbow of colours in fabrics and threads. Suitable also for beginners. . This can also be offered as a 2 day, weekend or week course
Dyeing Complex Colours
Learn how to mix three colours to dye fabrics to produce a good depth of colour. . This can also be offered as a 2 day, weekend or week course
Terrific Texture
Let’s investigate ways of creating texture using a variety of products and your sewing machine. Easy stitching, if you can use a sewing machine you qualify, but you will also need to bring one in good working order….
Texture in Canvas
This hand stitching day will investigate creating areas of texture on canvas using easy stitches.
